LEANIN TO MOSAIC CONNECITONS
Rochester, NY— September 1, 2013 Legacy Women Institute International (LWII) completes its final round of Lean-In conversations. It forum, Our Community Café is in partnership with the American Association of University Women (AAUW). According to Dr. Cofield, founder and President, “A conversation provides a powerful way to make a difference in our world, to build community, and to enhance collective intelligence. We are excited about our partnership with the Diversity Team of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) where Our Community Café will be hosted monthly and will cover a wide range of topics relevant to women. The first topic held June 11: Are women responsible for stalling their leadership progress? The second topic held July 8, 2013: “What can women do to harness the talent and level the playing field?” Our final round of Lean-In Conversations will be: Lean-In to Mosaic Connections: Community of Women-to-Women.
According to Sheryl Sandberg, author of LEAN IN, women’s progress in achieving leadership roles has stalled. In her book, she explains the root causes, and offers compelling, commonsense solutions that can empower women to achieve their full potential.

Join us as we complete our final round of Lean-In conversations. The response has been so great to this topic series that we are elevating it to a more comprehensive level. At our next session, we will introduce Lean-In to Mosaic Connections: Community of Women-to-Women, a 9-month matching program specifically designed to strengthen the social capital and connectedness between women. This program serves to unseed the effects of gender stereotyping, particularly the biases occurring between women. It is designed to powerfully unify women’s actions through collaboration, leveraging talent, and understanding our relationship to differences.
Dr. Melody Cofield, Legacy Women Institute International, President will facility the discussion and introduce the new program assisted by Heide Parreno, Diversity Chair of GRAB AAUW. Bring your own sandwich—tea and coffee will be provided free.

Hosted in partnership with the Diversity Team at the AAUW, Our Community Cafe is a learning forum designed to promote connections and conversations that lead to community awareness and possibilities. Experience community in an inviting climate in which everyone is inspired to learn from diverse perspectives on a wide range of topics. Men and women are welcomed to join the conversation.
Dr Melody Cofield, Our Community Café founder, believes Rochester continues to be fertile ground for innovation and creativity. “A good face-to-face conversation about meaningful issues of our lives is a satisfying experience and plants the seeds for potential solutions.
“We are looking to have a diverse perspective from different circles of our community. We hope the topics will inspire new thinking about existing issues and will be transported by participants to circles of their families and friends. We hope they are so positively provoked that they will turn conversation into action.” says Heidi Parreño, Diversity Chair for AAUW.
Our Community Café (Lean In for Women in Leadership) will meet Thursday, June 11, 2013 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at AAUW at the Perkins Mansion, 494 East Avenue. Registration is requested through www.ourcommunitycafe.com. Free with a suggested donation of $10 to defray the costs.
