According to Sheryl Sandberg of Lean In, women will never reach the top of any profession anywhere in the world.
On June 11th at Our Community Café hosted by AAUW-Rochester’s Diversity Team, Dr. Cofield explored the question: “Are women responsible for their stalled leadership progress?” Over thirty-café participants concluded that women are in deed responsible for their stalled leadership progress; however, they are not responsible for everything that holds them back. Most importantly, they agreed that in order to produce a different result, women must be the catalyst for their own change.
“So, what can women do to harness the potential and level the playing field?”
At this café, we will explore just how expansive this field really is, how gender stereotyping creates bias, and how each thwarts the potential of women.
