Living a Purposeful Life: “To Surve Humanity”
Rev Deborah Hughes, President and CEO of the Susan B Anthony House, presented at the Oct 2012 Legacy Women Institute Conference.
One of her points was purposefulness.
One of her stunning examples was Martin Luther King, Jr.
“Martin Luther King, Jr., attended seminary at Crozer, one of the schools of Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School. As an alumna of the school and a former administrator there, Deborah had the opportunity to read the original application for seminary that King completed when he was only nineteen years old. In his essay expressing his sense of call to the vocation of ministry, the young King said he did not have a story about a life-altering religious experience like so many other ministers reported, he simply felt compelled to serve humanity.”
